OEM vs ODM, what is the Difference?
What is the difference between OEM vs ODM? OEM and ODM are two acronyms that are commonly used in the manufacturing industry. Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) are two common terms. Despite the fact that many people mix up the two terms and use them frequently, they do not signify the same thing. OEMs build items based on designs supplied by customers, whereas ODMs design some or all of the products before manufacturing them for clients. The differences and benefits of the two types of manufacturers will be explained in this article. Original Equipment Manufacturer An OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manufactures a customer's product after it has been entirely designed by the customer. Apple, for example, created and developed the iPhone before contracting Foxconn to manufacture it. Because the design is only available to Apple and its contracted manufacturer, the iPhone has a significantly higher level of product differentiation.
